Biologically Active Surface on Communication Routes
Task
During the construction of a new residential area in Poznań, the designers had to meet several key requirements. Firstly, it was necessary to create functional communication routes that would allow pedestrians to move freely. At the same time, an important goal was to maintain as much biologically active surface as possible, which aimed to protect the natural environment and ensure the sustainable development of the estate.
Solution
The geoSYSTEM G40 grids were used, which allow for solid surface reinforcement while providing 87% biologically active surface. The grids, without filling, can withstand a load of 300 tons per square meter. The grid cell size is 6×6 cm, ensuring convenient use and allowing plant growth.
Result
The surroundings of the estate have retained their natural character, harmonizing with the landscape. The use of geoSYSTEM G40 grids contributed to creating an ecological environment that promotes rainwater infiltration and prevents puddle formation. Harmony with the surroundings, ecology, and functionality are the main advantages of this solution, creating a friendly living space for the residents of the estate.
